Hi, I’m Dr. Cecily Moore — a  licensed therapist, researcher, educator and the creator of the Reappropriate, Redefine, Recover™ framework which guides Black women toward nervous system healing, spaciousness, and self-reclamation.

My life’s work is to help therapists, counselors, and helping professionals unlearn the Strong Black Woman narrative so you can move from holding it all together into a version of wellness that actually holds you.

I’m a military wife, mom of two and I’ve never met a Strong Black Woman I couldn’t help begin the journey of unlearning that sh*t.

_______

Confessions of a Strong Black Woman is for you if you’re exhausted from…

  • Always being “the strong one” at work and at home

  • Holding it together while feeling depleted inside

  • Carrying the weight of being the fixer, the arranger, the one everyone depends on

And you want…

  • A clear understanding of how this narrative took root in your life

  • A process for unlearning it without guilt or shame

  • A picture of what it looks like to move from holding it all together, to a life that holds space for you

___________

Here’s what’s inside:

EPISODE 1: Strong Black Woman
We start with what “strength” has meant for generations of Black women, how it’s been modeled at work and at home, and the moment you realize that kind of strength is costing you too much.

EPISODE 2: Before the Breakdown
Most Black women don’t slow down until they blow up — a health crisis, job loss, or breakdown forces them to pause. This episode is about catching yourself before that moment, and why small actions are the key to recovery.

EPISODE 3: Unlearn That Sh*t
You don’t just decide to drop the Strong Black Woman armor — you unlearn it. In this episode, I share why “unlearn that shit” became my personal mission, and how to take the first messy, freeing steps.

EPISODE 4: Boundaries beyond “Just Say No”
The hardest shift for so many of us. “Just say no” won’t work, so let’s talk about how to stop carrying it all, how to ask for help without guilt, and how to create boundaries that actually protect your peace.

EPISODE 5: Well Black Woman
Let’s get clear on what it means to be a Well Black Woman — balanced, resourced, whole — and how to begin building a life that sustains you instead of drains you.
